The purpose of homework is simply to reinforce certain standards beyond the classroom. It is not meant to be a burden on the student nor their parents. Please feel free to email me if ever the homework becomes a cause of stress, and I am more than willing to work with you on a solution. Here are a few notes about the homework:
**Please Note** It has come to my attention that students are only able to take the homework assessment ONE time! While unfortunate, because it does not allow for reflection, please remember that this is just practice and assessment. Remind students to slow down. They can select the "SAVE" button to stop working for now, and can finish on another day. Do not hit "SUBMIT" until ALL questions are answered! Once submitted, you will see a grade, and then you are done! I will be using these grades to create small groups for remediation and extension, as well as to adjust my instruction in class. Remember -- some of the questions might be harder only because of the format in which they are asked! Let me know if you have questions.

Homework is an important part of the learning process! The assignments typically reinforce lessons or ideas shared in the classroom, and will assist in generating long-term memory for a given subject. They will also better prepare your child for AZ-Merit and Galileo! Students who actively complete homework will learn time management skills and study habits, which will benefit them into adulthood. Please complete all homework as directed and assigned, and return the following morning (all homework is due the next day unless otherwise noted).
Important: Students will NOT be penalized in content areas for incorrect answers on homework. Honest effort will help both the student and myself in the long run, as it will allow me to better gauge levels of understand and adjust accordingly. Homework IS monitored closely and will be reflected on the study skills portion of the report card. While not given an academic grade, missing work can affect whether or not a child receives Honor Roll or Principal's Award; per school policy, students receiving 1-2 on their report card in ANY area are not eligible for either award. Homework is monitored and will be reflected on the report card. It is assessed using the following scale:
Failure to return ALL assignments and have an agenda signature each day will result in missing assignments, which will be reflected at the end of each quarter in the student behavior and study skills portion of the report card. |
